Bringing Christmas cheer to the local community

There’s no doubt that things have been a little different for children over the past year, that’s why we wanted to send just a tiny bit of normality and festive cheer their way. We teamed up with our contractors Balfour Beatty, Bylor and Hochtief to provide our local primary schools with Christmas Tree’s and decorations.

Trees and decorations were donated to Otterhampton and Cannington Primary School whilst Stogursey’s tree was placed in the newly opened Victory Hall for the whole community to enjoy.

Immy Silby, Community Relations Executive for Hinkley Point C said “It’s great to be able to do something nice for not just the children but also the teachers and residents in three of our local villages. I hope that the trees brought some festive cheer and made December feel that bit more special”.

It’s not just local primary schools we’re supporting this December, teams across the project are finding ways to raise money and donate to local groups.

For the second year running, Bylor workers donated hundreds of gifts to the Children’s Ward at Musgrove Park Hospital, the local hospital to the Hinkley Point C project. Gifts included toys and sweet treats along with a donation of £345 for The Children’s Hospice South West.

Our operations team donated essential supplies such as toilet roll and cleaning products after a request came in from Bridgwater Food Bank, food and money from Hinkley Point C team members were also donated to the group.

A team of Somerset Larder workers came together to donate to the Bridgwater Shoebox Appeal, donating essential supplies along with toys to be given to vulnerable locals. Lisa Ford, Somerset Larder, who organised the donation said “I’m so humbled by the generosity of the north office catering team”. Hinkley Point B have also donated £2,000 to the appeal, which will enable them to continue supporting families throughout 2021.
