Fundraising and donations support the NHS and local hospice

By Hinkley Point C media team | Posted May 21, 2020

One of the largest contractors on the Hinkley Point C project, Bylor, have been working as a team to raise vital funds for the NHS. Welders working on the Nuclear Island have had a sponsored head shave, raising £2,000. These funds will help supply critical PPE to frontline workers. Gareth Bromley, Bylor Welding Supervisor, who led the fundraising said: “During these unprecedented times, it is a time to unite and support our front-line workers, to look out for and shield those who are vulnerable.”

Whilst team Concrete, who work on the Batching Plant which produces all the concrete for site, are boosting morale whilst raising funds for the NHS too! With the introduction of Funky Fridays, the team are wearing something a little bit unusual, keeping spirits high and donating money in the process. Debbie O’Keefe, Team Concrete Administrator said, “It’s great to be involved in Team Concrete laying the foundations for strong team work – the team are keeping the concrete pouring but also keeping morale high during challenging times off and onsite!”.

Like many other contractors across the Project, Bylor is also supporting local organisations. They have donated 50 FFP3 facemasks to Children’s Hospice South West. After receiving a request for facemasks, the Bylor Plant & Logistics team worked together to source the masks and delivered them within two hours of receiving the request.
