Celebrating the opening of a new walking trail

Stakeholders joined together to celebrate the opening of a new walking path “Castles & Coast Way”. The circular walk leads from Nether Stowey, past Stogursey Castle and along the England Coast Path.

Using Hinkley Point C S106 funding, Somerset County Council created this new walking trail in response to a request from the local communities.

The walk totals 13 miles and is considered easy to moderate. Along the way you can expect to walk by rivers, lakes and ponds, as well as spotting a host of wildlife including skylarks, brown hares, otters and a range of beautiful butterflies. If history fascinates you then keep a look out for Coleridge Cottage, Lilstock Harbour or Nether Stowey Castle to name a few.

Sarah Littler, Somerset County Council Project Manager, said of the developments: “A new walking trail will help to draw visitors to this previously seldom visited part of Somerset to appreciate the landscape, ecology and other attractions on offer”

Parking at Brean Beach

Supporting Local Tourism - Free Beach Parking at Brean and Berrow this Summer
Hinkley Point C is helping to make a trip to the seaside a little more affordable this summer by providing free parking at both Brean and Berrow beach car parks. Available throughout the school holidays and into October, the initiative is part of Hinkley Point C’s support for tourism businesses in Brean. The initiative has already proved extremely successful with visitors to the beach more than double the number seen in July last year.
