Hinkley Point C supports Spring Street homeless project

By Hinkley Point C media team | Posted March 04, 2019

Help Bristol’s Homeless is aiming to change the face of homelessness in Bristol. The charity is planning to use shipping containers to provide self-contained homes for up to a year, as well as a restaurant, a training facility and a converted bus which will provide emergency accommodation for up to 12 people.

Hinkley Point C is supporting this important project by linking with the charity and providing expertise to help the project relocate to a new site and increase its accommodation. This includes helping the charity to develop a project structure and chairing weekly construction meetings to drive progress forward.

Jasper Thompson, Founder of Help Bristol’s Homeless said “Unlike many homeless charities, our ethos is that housing must come first, and then everything else comes after. Many complex factors can lead to homelessness, and while it is true that these issues need to be resolved to keep people off the street, we believe that the priority must be to get people into safe, stable and comfortable accommodation. From there, we can help them to improve their own lives and reach their potential.”
