Funding ends soon: Get 75% off EV charging for your workplace
Don’t Miss Out on Up to 75% Off EV Charging – Apply to the Workplace Charging Scheme Before 31 March 2026
The UK government’s Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) offers generous funding to support the installation of EV chargepoints - helping businesses, public sector organisations, charities and education providers cut costs while supporting a cleaner future.
But there’s a catch. The scheme is only confirmed until 31st March 2026, and with no successor programme announced, this could be your last chance to secure funding.
If you’re considering EV charging at your workplace, now is the moment to act - and EDF is here to help you every step of the way.
What does the Workplace Charging Scheme offer?
The WCS is a voucher-based grant designed to accelerate the rollout of EV chargepoints at workplaces across the UK. It covers up to 75% of the purchase and installation costs, significantly reducing the upfront investment required.
It has a wide scope - covering England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. It is not available in the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man.
Who’s eligible?
There are two versions of the scheme:
1. The Standard WCS:
Available to public sector bodies, charities, for‑profit organisations and small accommodation businesses.
What you can claim:
- 75% off the cost, capped at £350 per chargepoint socket
- Up to 40 sockets per organisation
- For use in staff, fleet, or visitor parking areas
2. WCS for State‑Funded Education Institutions:
A separate, enhanced scheme created specifically for state‑funded schools, colleges, and other education institutions. This is currently one of the most generous sustainability funding opportunities available to the education sector.
What you can claim:
- 75% off the cost, capped at £2,500 per socket
- Up to 40 sockets
- You can make multiple claims up to your 40-socket allocation.
- Academy trusts can apply for up to a maximum of 40 sockets for each institution within the academy trust
Important: All applicants must meet the scheme’s eligibility criteria to qualify for funding.
Thinking of Offering Public Charging?
If you intend to make your chargepoints available to the public, consider how this fits into your broader sustainability strategy. For schools especially, public charging should complement wider efforts to promote active travel, public transport use, and low‑carbon commuting.
How the process works
The application is designed to be simple, with minimal administrative load:
- Submit an online application via the government portal.
- Receive your WCS voucher code if approved.
- Select an OZEV‑authorised installer (required for grant eligibility).
- Your installer completes the installation and redeems the voucher on your behalf.
You never need to process the funding yourself - the discount is applied automatically through your installer.
How EDF can support you
We know public sector leaders and bursars are balancing tight budgets, limited time, and multiple priorities across their estates. That’s why EDF offers a complete, full-managed service.
EDF can help you:
- Ensure you meet all eligibility requirements
- Complete the WCS grant application
- Schedule and deliver a full site survey
- Install compliant chargepoints via Pod, our OZEV‑approved partner
You’ll receive a fully managed installation process - from early planning to final activation - without adding pressure to your already busy team.
Act now for full support
With funding only guaranteed until 31 March 2026, there is a limited window to take advantage of this opportunity. Applying early maximises your chances of success and ensures installation can be completed ahead of the deadline.
EDF is ready to support your application and help you secure funding while it’s still available.
