Hinkley Point B industrial safety prosecution

EDF Energy today (1 February) attended a sentencing hearing at Taunton Crown Court. This followed an earlier hearing at which the company had submitted a guilty plea to a prosecution brought by the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. The charges relate to an incident on 12 April 2017 at Hinkley Point B which resulted in injury to a Doosan Babcock Ltd employee.

Olympic boxing coach puts Bridgwater pupils through their paces

A Bridgwater school didn’t pull any punches following a visit by a Great Britain Olympic boxing coach. Lee Pullen, currently on a career break from EDF Energy, took time out from training 2020 Olympic podium hopefuls to visit the town and coach 80 students from Robert Blake Science College.

Next generation of apprentices at Hinkley Point B

THE next generation of apprentices has started work at EDF Energy’s Hinkley Point B power station near Bridgwater after securing places on the company’s coveted four-year apprenticeship scheme – just as the 2018 recruitment process is due to start.

Charity award for Hinkley Point B Local Hero

LOCAL couple Paul and Donna Stevens have been named as South West Heart Heroes after winning a prestigious award for their charity work in memory of their toddler son Elliot.Paul, who works at EDF Energy’s Hinkley Point B power station near Bridgwater, and wife Donna have raised more than £80,000 for research into mitochondrial disease and cardiomyopathy in just two years.
