Vincent de Rivaz updates MPs on Hinkley Point C
EDF Energy's CEO, Vincent de Rivaz has said that Hinkley Point C will soon get the go-ahead. He was speaking to MPs on the Energy and Climate Change Select Committee as part of their hearing into the future of the nuclear industry.
Yannick d'Escatha is a renowned expert in the nuclear field. At the end of 2015, EDF Chairman Jean-Benard Lévy asked him to work on the HPC project risk review ahead of the final decision regarding the investment for Hinkley Point C.
Royal honour for training Hinkley Point C workforce
A college which is taking a lead role in EDF Energy's efforts to create a new workforce for the nuclear energy industry has been honoured by The Queen. Bridgwater College in Somerset, which trains young people to work on projects like Hinkley Point C, has been awarded The Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education.
Statement from EDF Chairman Jean-Bernard Levy, regarding Hinkley Point C project
Jean-Bernard Levy, EDF Group Chairman said:
"Thomas Piquemal told me of his resignation last week, which was made public last night. I regret the haste of his departure, and I immediately appointed Xavier Girre to the position of CFO on a provisional basis.
Hinkley Point C will be the UK's first new nuclear power station built for a generation and will pave the way for further nuclear power stations. Hinkley Point C is a big opportunity for UK steel, as well as for UK construction and for manufacturing more widely.
