Dungeness B has launched its annual search for the young engineering stars of the future.

The power station on the Kent coast kicked-off its drive to find talented young people interested in a four-year apprenticeship with owners EDF Energy.

Apprentice coordinator, Ben McDonald urged those interested to take their first steps on “an amazing journey.”

“The four-year Engineering Maintenance Apprenticeship gives school leavers the skills, confidence and qualifications to have a really successful and well-paid career in the energy industry,” he said.

The general public can get more information about the scheme by attending an Open Day on 22 October at the Dungeness B Visitor Centre, or they can check out the EDF Energy website for more details.

There is also an Apprentice Fortnight running at the Visitor Centre from 29 October. A series of events will include virtual tours of the power station, presentations and question and answer sessions. Several schools and colleges are attending, along with nearly 200 pupils from across the South-East who want to find out more. If you would like more details, please call the Dungeness B Visitor Centre on 01797 343728.

This years’ apprentice scheme opened on 1 October, and interested candidates can apply until 13 January, 2019.
