Maintenance Outage update letter to Site Stakeholder Group
Dear Site Stakeholder Group (SSG) Member
Dungeness B Maintenance Outage Update
I am writing to inform SSG members of our latest update on the maintenance outage at Dungeness B power station.
As previously communicated we are in the midst on one of the busiest maintenance periods for many years. The highly-skilled engineers and technicians here at Dungeness B are carrying-out a huge range of maintenance and repair tasks aimed at underpinning our future performance.
We want to ensure we continue to produce low-carbon electricity safely and reliably for many years to come. So, although the reactors at Dungeness B have been off for some time, we are taking appropriate measures to carry out a very full and thorough service, which will stand us in good stead for the future.
As a result of this we have decided to again inform the regulators of our intention to extend our outage. The new expected return-to-service dates have been extended to April.
Key areas of work include the project to complete repairs to corrosion identified during inspections of various systems, and work to fully inspect main steam-line pipes.
The regulator has noted our intentions to extend the outages to complete the work. The new dates are 15 April for Reactor 21 and 6 April for Reactor 22.
As always we will keep you updated on this work, along with details of any alteration to our return to service dates for both reactors.
