Hinkley’s visitor centre celebrates its first anniversary

By EDF | Posted December 19, 2013

It was a double cause for celebration at the EDF Energy Visitor Centre in Bridgwater's Angel Place shopping centre this month as it welcomed the 10,000th visitor since opening its doors one year ago.

To mark the first anniversary Visitor Centre staff were joined by Peter Evans, Hinkley Point B’s plant manager, Nigel Cann, construction director of Hinkley C and Shelly Mitchinson from the energy company’s customer services team.

During that time the visitor centre team has organised 116 external group visits to Hinkley Point B, including over 2,350 people. The popular Visitor Centre has also hosted events involving school groups, community organisations and local emergency services.

An EDF Energy customer services representative is available in the visitor centre every Wednesday between 10:00am and 3:00pm answering customer queries.

Dave Stokes, community liaison officer, said: "The first year has really shown the value of the Visitor Centre to the local community who have made great use of the facility. As well as providing a place to find out more about energy issues and the power station, we have also welcomed a variety of events and activities here that local people have shown their support for. To mark our first anniversay with the 10,000th visitor shows just how popular the centre has become."
