EDF Energy launches new instalment of ‘Feel Better Energy’ Campaign
- TV advertising highlights ‘Thank Yous’ rewards scheme -
EDF Energy is launching a new instalment of its ‘Feel Better Energy’ TV advertising campaign. Created by AMV BBDO, this athletics-themed ad promotes the EDF Energy customer reward scheme, Thank Yous, and is the third advert to feature EDF Energy’s new brand character.
The ‘Thank Yous’ programme is helping EDF Energy customers ‘feel better’ by offering a reward every single month with opportunities to win tickets to London 2012 among a host of other prizes.
The 30” TV advert launches on Tuesday 22nd May and, in reference to EDF Energy’s role as an official partner of London 2012, features the brand character’s dreams of racing, joined by glittering dancers in a golden finale, with showers of tickets, and fireworks. The soundtrack is the ‘80s song, “Take on Me”.
The ad has been produced to support the brand’s recently launched ‘Feel Better Energy’ positioning. EDF Energy is focused on rebuilding consumer trust by being a better energy company, an aspiration underlined when the company recently published its customer commitments on fair value, better service and simplicity. Thank Yous, is just one of a range of products, services and rewards which support EDF Energy’s goal of helping its customers ‘feel better’.
The Feel Better Energy campaign was launched in April with a 60” TV ad promoting EDF Energy’s low carbon credentials, and introduced the company’s new brand character, a small dancing robot which is the embodiment of ‘Feel Better Energy’. It was followed by a 30” product ad, promoting EDF Energy’s new residential tariff Blue +Price Promise - another proof point of EDF Energy’s work to rebuild trust. Blue +Price Promise offers electricity backed by low carbon generation1 with a promise to tell customers if they could save over £1 per week with any other supplier at typical use2. Despite offering a fixed price until September 2013 there is no termination fee.

The Thanks Yous ad film runs on terrestrial and digital channels for approximately 8 weeks.

1 Blue +Price Promise September 2013 comes with a guarantee that 100% of the electricity a customer uses will be matched by low carbon electricity generated by EDF Energy’s nuclear power stations. EDF Energy is appointing an external company to provide an audit of the company’s energy supply matching process – to ensure it does meet this guarantee. Their report will be published on the EDF Energy website.
2 Customers will be informed via email within 10 working days of a supplier informing the company of a deal which is £1 or more a week cheaper at typical consumption (3,300 kWh of electricity and 16,500 kWh of gas per year for Standard meters; and 5,000 kWh of electricity for Economy 7 meters, as defined by Ofgem). The same information will also be published on the EDF Energy website and updated within two working days of a supplier informing the company of a deal which is £1 or more a week cheaper. Customers who are not online will get a letter within 10 working days. Customers will also be able to check at their own consumption levels on the EDF Energy website.
