Dungeness B staff raise over £500 for Marie Curie

The fundraising was part of “The BIG Week”, an initiative set up by the station to engage with employees on areas such as health and safety, and diversity and inclusion, as well as raise awareness and money for the charity.

Rebecca Cavanagh, community liaison officer at Dungeness B organised the annual event.

She said: “We started this annual event to connect with employees and make sure they have the information they need about key areas for the company, such as health and safety and diversity. It’s great that the all team here have been engaged with the activities on site, and managed to raise a decent amount for the charity whilst also having fun.”

Aptly themed in time for the world cup, for a small donation employees could try and “Beat the Goalie” in order to win an ECO-manager product, which can help save energy.

Lucy Herron, Senior Account Manager from Marie Curie met some of the team during the week-long event.

She said: “It’s fantastic to meet the wonderful team at Dungeness B, and the people behind all the fundraising activity. We’re really proud of what’s been achieved so far and all the work that’s gone into raising both awareness and money.”

Earlier this year Dungeness B employee Bob Castle ran the London marathon dressed as a daffodil and raised over £1,000 for the charity. Since the partnership began the energy company and its employees have raised around £380,000 for Marie Curie, which exceeds the target by over £150,000.
