BBC Panorama - EDF Energy Statement

EDF Energy’s charity partner selection and recruitment was a transparent process developed with the help of the Charities Aid Foundation. The shortlist was determined using 11 separate criteria. At no point in the process did EDF Energy suggest in any way that Save the Children should modify its campaigning position in order to increase its chances of selection.

The selection was made through a free vote amongst all company employees with a final choice of Marie Curie Cancer Care, Alzheimer’s Society, and Save the Children UK. Marie Curie Cancer Care was the winner from more than 7,000 votes cast. Since 1st May, our employees have raised £100,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care, which will be matched by EDF Energy.

EDF Energy is committed to taking action on fuel poverty and will support 240,000 vulnerable customers through the Warm Home Discount in 2014 as well as making grants through the EDF Energy Trust for those with difficulty paying their bills.
