A quick look back over a busy year of improvements
Here are 3 areas in which we’re giving our customers a better experience this year.
1) Making electricity easier for you to buy
For small businesses: Now small businesses can get a quote for their electricity and gas supplies in under 60 seconds.
Plus there’s lots of choice.
Fixed prices if you’re happy to commit to a contract, or a variable tariff if you prefer to keep your options open. And for brave entrepreneurs, there’s New Start – our flexible and competitive 6-9 month contract for new businesses.
For larger businesses: Instant access to the latest wholesale energy prices is now possible on mobiles, tablets and computers through our brand new Market Insight.
Other upgrades include interactive graphs and chart, helpful commentary from our traders and analysis of all the other cost factors that affect business electricity prices. Our customers are using it nearly twice as much as before.
2) Investing in our service
For small businesses: We give our small business customers access to their account 24/7 with MyAccount. We’ve improved this further with Live Chat to make it easy for you to reach a real person when you need us. And our new app now lets you send in your meter readings as a photograph from your smart phone. Much easier!
For large businesses: We completed a programme to replace our 19 legacy back office IT systems with a whole new platform. While change on this scale comes with some teething problems, it gives us more ways to give our customers a better service in the future. With the new system comes a new bill layout, easier to read and understand. We hope you’re finding it helpful.
3) Supporting your business
For small businesses: We’ve teamed up with UK charity Business Debt Line to launch our Recovery For Business service. This provides businesses tailored support to get back on track with all their bills (not just energy ones) We’re also helping small businesses save money on business essentials like insurance, printing, travel, broadband and more with our Business Thank Yous reward scheme.
For large businesses: Showing your customers how your business operates sustainably can help earn their loyalty. Since January, 60% of the electricity we’ve sold to mid market businesses (somewhere between small businesses and large corporates) has been our low-carbon option, Blue for Business. And with the new carbon reporting guidelines for electricity purchases, these businesses’ environmental credentials get a boost from making a more responsible choice.
