Alternatively, you may prefer a different solution to a standard heat pump. That's why we now offer hybrid heat pumps to help customers move towards a low-carbon future. Our team is ready to guide you through the options, ensuring you don't miss out on the benefits of upgrading to an energy-efficient heating system.

Here's a reminder of the benefits of installing a full heat pump system

  • high efficiency – an air source heat pump can be over 300% more efficient than a standard gas boiler, potentially saving you money on your heating bills(1)
  • lower your carbon footprint by around 12% a year. That's roughly a return flight from London to Perth!(2)
  • enjoy reliable heating and hot water all year round – an air source heat pump can still work effectively at -25°C!
  • low maintenance with a long service life – (15+ years)

To get a full heat pump installed, you must;

  • own the property where the heat pump is going to be installed
  • use only an MCS-accredited heat pump installer (we only work with MCS-accredited heat pump installers!).
  • be replacing an old fossil fuel or electric heating system
  • not be replacing a heat pump or previous renewable system
  • have a valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) with no outstanding loft or cavity wall insulation recommendations

These systems seamlessly switch between heating sources (your boiler and the heat pump). So, whether it's chilly or sunny outside, you can always rely on a hybrid system to keep you cosy and comfortable.

Benefits of a hybrid heat pump

Reducing our reliance on boilers and using fewer fossil fuels to protect the environment is important. Replacing your existing boiler with a new boiler and hybrid heat pump is a step in the right direction. We will install a new combi boiler and hybrid system at the same time.

Current financial support options available

There are currently grants if you're looking to install a heat pump. Please speak to our CB Heating team, who can discuss the options.

Anyone living in England, Scotland or Wales can apply for government grants that cut the cost of installing a full air source heat pump.

What are these schemes?

Boiler Upgrade Scheme (England and Wales, not applicable for hybrid systems)
The grant is £7,500 for installing a heat pump.

Home Energy Scotland grants and loans (Scotland only, hybrid systems included)
Home Energy Scotland offers grants of £7,500, which increases to £9,000 for people in remote areas who qualify for the rural uplift.

In Scotland, you can also apply for an interest-free loan of up to £7,500 to cover the remaining costs. This means that most households in Scotland can get financial support of up to £15,000 for installing an air source heat pump.
