What happens to your final Card, Cash or Cheque bill after a meter exchange or switch to PAYG

We can give you the answer for your type of account, once we know what your account number starts with. You can find your account number in MyAccount, and on your EDF bills, emails and letters.

My account number starts with '67'

You'll get a final bill just after your meter exchange if it's led to a change in the way you pay.

When you arranged your meter exchange, you would have been asked how you want to pay your final bill.

If you didn't make a choice at the time, you simply have to pay your final bill within 14 days – unless you're now paying by smart PAYG (see below).

I have a new smart Pay As You Go meter(s)

1. You'll get a bill after your new smart meter is installed – this will be for any outstanding balance on your account and any repayment plan you had

2. We'll add the final balance from this bill onto your smart PAYG meter(s)

3. We'll then take £10 of credit from each PAYG meter each week, until you've paid off your outstanding balance

I switched my smart meter(s) to Pay As You Go mode

1. You'll get a bill after we switch your meter to Pay As You Go mode – this will be for any outstanding balance on your account and any repayment plan you had
