Budget Direct Debit: why you get an estimated bill

We can give you the answer for your type of account, once we know what your account number starts with. You can find your account number in MyAccount, and on your EDF bills, emails and letters.

My account number starts with '67'

We'll ask you for a meter reading twice a year – just before your next bill.

If we don't get your reading on time, we have to estimate your meter reading. This is why you get an estimated bill.

We estimate your meter reading by using the latest information we have about your energy use.

Didn't want an estimated bill?
We can cancel the estimated bill if you send us a meter reading just after getting it. We'll then send you a new bill based on your meter reading.

My account number starts with 'A'
