Sorry, it looks like your home has solid walls

The walls of your home will either be cavity walls or solid walls.

As you've said your home doesn't have cavity walls, your home would only be suitable for solid wall insulation

To help guide you on what type of walls your home has we've put together a quick guide below.

How can I tell what type of walls my home has?

Solid walls

  • Solid walls have no gap, so they can’t be filled with cavity wall insulation
  • Will look similar to the brickwork shown in the photos opposite
  • Made up of a non-uniform brick pattern, as some bricks will be laying on their side
  • Likely built before 1920
  • Less than 260mm thick

Cavity walls

  • Cavity walls are made of two layers with a gap or ‘cavity’ between them, which is where the insulation sits
  • Will look similar to the brickwork shown in the photos opposite
  • Made up of a uniform brick pattern, as all bricks will be placed facing the same way
  • Likely built after 1930
  • More than 260mm thick
