Energy saving grants in Great Britain: ECO scheme

What is it the ECO scheme?

All the big energy companies help low-income and vulnerable customers across Great Britain make their homes more energy-efficient.

It's part of the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme, which replaced the old Warm Front grant for insulation back in 2013.
 

What can you get?

You can get free loft and cavity wall insulation under the ECO energy-efficiency scheme. Low-cost boilers are also available.
 

Who qualifies for free ECO home insulation?

You can be a homeowner or a tenant in a private property, but need to receive at least one benefit, such as income support or disability living allowance. Go to our ECO scheme page to see the full list of qualifying benefits.
 

How do you apply to the ECO scheme?

You can apply for the ECO scheme through us if you're an EDF customer and get one of the qualifying benefits.

What is it the Warmer Homes Scotland scheme?

The Scottish Government's Warmer Homes Scotland Scheme helps low-income households and vulnerable people heat their homes for less through home improvements.

It's part of the wider Home Energy Efficiency Programmes for Scotland (HEEPS).

 

What can you get?

The Warmer Homes Scotland Scheme offers loft insulation government grants, free cavity wall and solid wall insulation, as well as help for other energy-saving home improvements.
 

Who qualifies for free insulation through Warmer Homes Scotland?

The scheme is for homeowners and private-sector tenants in Scotland who are struggling to pay for their energy and have lived in their property for at least twelve months. You can get the full qualifying criteria and details about how to apply from Energy Saving Trust.

What is it the NEST scheme?

The Welsh Government's NEST scheme helps low-income households and people with certain health conditions to heat their homes for less. It's part of the wider Warm Homes schemes in Wales.
 

What can you get?

Nest offers a government grant for cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, solid wall insulation and other energy-efficiency improvements.
 

Who qualifies for free Nest insulation?

It's for low-income homeowners and private-sector tenants in Wales who are receiving certain benefits – or have a chronic respiratory, circulatory or mental health condition. You can get the full qualifying criteria and details about how to apply from NEST.
