I'm converting a house into flats – how do I split an exisiting electricity/gas supply?

I want to split an existing electricty supply:

  • You'll need a new electricity supply number, which is also known as a Meter Point Administration Number (MPAN)
  • Call your local network distributor – also known as local network operator – to get a new MPAN
  • Once you have your new MPAN, call us on 0333 200 5117* to arrange the installation of your new electricity meter(s)

Please note, if you're in the UK Power Network area, you can miss out the first two steps and give us a call straight away.

Find your local network distributors at energynetworks.org – just type in your postcode.

I want to split an existing gas suppply:

  • You'll need a new gas supply number, which is also known as a Meter Point Registration Number (MPRN)
  • Call your local network distributor – also known as local network operator – to get a new MPRN; they'll also tell you if you need any alterations to your gas pipes before you can split the supply
  • Once you have your new MPRN, call us on 0333 200 5117* to arrange the installation of your new gas meter(s)

Find your local network distributors at energynetworks.org – just type in your postcode.
