How do I find out who my energy supplier is?
Moved home recently? Moved in to a new rental? Are you a first time buyer and bought a new home and dont know who your supplier is? Or simply lost track of your gas and electricity supplier paperwork? Your local network operator (the company responsible for supplying gas and electricity to your home, but not for your bills) will be able to tell you.
To find out who your electricity supplier is
The UK electricity network is split into regions and each region has a local distributor that has a record of who supplies electricity to every home in the UK and in their regional area.

Contact the electricity distributor for your area and ask for their meter point administration service.
To find our who your gas supplier is
You can also call the meter point administration service line on 0870 608 1524. Simply tell them your postcode and the first line of your address, and make sure you have a pen handy to write down your MPRN (Meter Point Reference Number) and your current supplier.
You can switch once you find out who your supplier is and save money
One you find out your electricity and / or gas supplier is, you can decide whether it is the best one for you and switch energy supplier to a new one. A new plan can save you a lot of money!
