Ford Puma Gen-E announced as the first EV to qualify for full £3750 grant
The UK’s new Electric Car Grant (ECG) has already shaken up the EV market, with search volumes for models that qualify for the full saving. To unlock the Band 1 maximum £3,750 discount, an electric car needs to:
- have a base model that retails under the £37,000 price cap (but not retail for over £42,000 with any extras or upgraded trim levels added)
- have a minimum battery range of 100 miles
- have a 3-year or 60,000 mile warranty
- be powered by a battery with an 8-year or 100,000 mile warranty
- meet minimum sustainability criteria
So far, just two EVs have made the Band 1 cut, and one of them is the Ford Puma Gen-E. That means the UK’s best-selling car of 2024 is now also one of the most affordable ways to go electric, with the grant making it even more attractive for drivers switching to EVs.
