Prepare for your future with Young SZC

Are you aged 16-21 and living in Suffolk or Norfolk?

Young SZC will focus upon delivering information and access to the many career and apprenticeship opportunities across the region.

This involves employment in Suffolk and Norfolk, as well as information and updates on the future Sizewell C project.

We are working with our partners in the region to help create opportunities for young people even before construction at Sizewell C gets underway.

Not sure what you want to do yet – or what you’re good at? No problem – we’ll help you identify your skills and become the best version of yourself.

Whether you’re still at school or college, in or out of the workplace, we want to help you fast-track your future.

Check out our podcast!

Ever wanted to speak to someone about an apprenticeship with Sizewell C? Well now is your chance to hear from Head of HR Rachel Kerry. Rachel recorded a podcast for Take Your Place - Neaco especially aimed at young people in the East of England. Rachel gives a good insight into apprenticeships, an area that is particularly important to us at Sizewell C as we aim to create 1,500 apprentices during the construction of the new power station.

In our next podcast you can hear from some of our apprentices working at Sizewell and at our sister project Hinkley Point C in Somerset so check back for updates.

What is Sizewell C?

Sizewell C is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for people in the East of England – and if planning permission for the power station is granted, it could be your springboard into a rewarding future career.

Sizewell C will be a virtual replica of Hinkley Point C which is now under construction in Somerset. It’ll supply low-carbon electricity to six million homes. Provide jobs for 900 people. And make a long-lasting positive difference to the economy in the region.

What does Young SZC offer me?

Watch video: Training and development opportunities for apprentices at Hinkley Point C

Young SZC is based on our sister programme, Young HPC, in Somerset. This hugely popular skills programme has benefitted hundreds of young people in the area local to Hinkley Point C (HPC):

  1. More than 1,400 members of the programme

  2. More than 600 apprentices so far at HPC

Listen to Jacob, an apprentice joiner from Bridgwater on the Hinkley Point C project, talk about its positive legacy and the learning and career opportunities it has given him

I think the HPC project will leave a massive legacy on the local community. The amount of investment that's been put into it from the parks, to the housing, to the economy. It's totally different to what it was when I was younger.

How Young SZC could help you

Meet Beth, a 4th Year Apprentice at Sizewell B

“I knew I didn’t want to go to university after my A-Levels. I liked the idea of hands-on learning so began to look at apprenticeships.”

Beth studied for her GCSE’s at Westbourne Academy in Ipswich and went on to study Maths, Biology and Politics A-Levels at Colchester Sixth Form College.

Beth is now in her final year of an engineering apprenticeship at Sizewell B. She would like to secure a job as a Technician when she completes her apprenticeship. Beth has a long rewarding career ahead of her.

Want to develop your skills?

Our sister programme, Young HPC, has created a digital toolbox to help you identify your skills and behaviours. Identify ways to develop and demonstrate these. And put together some practical tips and templates to help you build your own ‘toolkit’.

Whether you’re putting together a CV for the first time. Preparing for an online interview or assessment centre. Or are a newbie to apprenticeships and want to learn everything there is to know about them. Find everything you need to become the best version of yourself in the Young HPC digital toolbox.
