Public Consultation - Changes to Hinkley Point C's Development Consent Order
In the years since the original application, technology has advanced whilst safer, more efficient methods of operating the power station have emerged. As a result, we are proposing to apply for consent to make a number of more significant, "material” changes.

The reactor
Hinkley Point C will be the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK. The planned twin unit UK EPR is capable of generating 3,260MW of secure, low carbon electricity for 60 years.
Suppliers
A large number are already working on, or have become preferred bidders for, Hinkley Point C and some firms have successfully come together to form joint ventures to work on the project.
Environment
Hinkley Point C’s contribution to fighting climate change means that during its 60 years of operation it will have a large, positive impact on the environment. Sustainability and environmental protection are also key features in the construction itself.
