Hinkley Point C offers support following job losses at local warehouse

People facing redundancy, following the announcement of the closure of a large distribution warehouse in Somerset, are being helped to find new roles thanks to Hinkley Point C.

Toolstation has an e-commerce distribution centre in the Express Business Park in Bridgwater, which it is relocating to Northampton by the autumn - putting more than 200 jobs at risk.

Hinkley Point C’s Jobs Team is attending a jobs fair at Toolstation on June 15th, alongside eleven contractors working on the project. Workers will be able to hear more about the wide variety of jobs currently available on site, including in construction, warehousing, logistics, driving and security. 

The project recently announced the launch of 30,000 new training courses, meaning workers can upskill or embark on brand new career paths. 

The Jobs Service will also provide support in writing CVs and registering on the Hinkley Point C jobs portal, where workers can view and apply for roles on the construction site.

Jobs were previously found for those facing redundancy when the retailer Argos announced the closure of its distribution centre in Bridgwater in April 2021, affecting 230 employees.
