This is the car for you if… You’re a fan of the Peugeot e-208, but want it in SUV size.
Peugeot has dived headfirst into the electric car market with not one, but two new launches this year. And while the super-slick e-208 is attracting all the column inches, it's the e-2008 that’s quietly getting the attention of electric converts in search of a top SUV.
That’s because the e-2008 offers tremendous value for money. Only the MG ZS EV is marginally cheaper to lease. And the e-2008 comes with a boot-load of extra features as standard. Like active blind spot monitoring. A 10-inch touchscreen and holographic heads-up display. Not to mention support for super-fast charging – a real bonus for long car journeys.
With the e-2008, Peugeot continues its winning formula of producing one car, but with a choice of powertrains. So just like the e-208, the e-2008 is almost indistinguishable from the petrol model. With just a few discreet flourishes that allude to its electric status. Like the monogrammed ‘e’ on the rear of the car. And the reflective Peugeot badge on the chequered front grille. Inside, Peugeot’s also given the seats of its electric version a plush grey trim.
Thanks to the extra height on this compact SUV, the interior feels surprisingly roomy. With plenty of space for a family of 2.4 children. Not to mention a dog inside the 434-litre boot.
Upfront, Peugeot’s particularly proud of its 3D i-cockpit. This presents vital stats – like your battery level and driving mode – in 3D form. Or view a 3D animated display of the powertrain operating in real time – if you’re interested in the mechanics of it all.
Drivers who prefer to focus on getting from A to B will be more impressed by features like support for Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Wireless charging for your phone. And the e-2008’s keyless entry.
On the road, the e-2008 handles twists and turns comfortably. Because of its electric motor, there’s instant acceleration when you put your foot down. So this SUV feels nippier and responsive than conventional cars.
It’s a practical drive too. The 50kWh battery gives you a driving range of about 206 miles on a single charge. And the e-2008 comes with support for CCS charging. So you can recharge your battery to 80% in 30 minutes at rapid charging points. That’s probably far quicker than it’ll take you and the family to order and eat lunch. Let alone squeeze in a toilet stop for everyone.
Then there are all the driver assistance technologies that come as standard. Like autonomous emergency braking and lane positioning assist. There’s a camera to help with parking too. And even a driver attention warning system to spot if you’re feeling drowsy at the wheel.
It’s practical features like this that make the e-2008 a very capable family car above all. So if you’re in the market for a small SUV, why not give the e-2008 a test drive?
Our three favourite features:
- Keyless entry comes as standard on the e-2008 – a handy feature when you’re juggling a baby car seat and shopping bags
- The e-2008 features Peugeot’s unique piano key buttons for heating and other controls. They’re a neat design feature that we really like
- Through the MyPeugeot app you can pre-programme the heating to come on or check on the car’s battery’s charge level – all without stepping outside your front door..
You’ll like the Peugeot e-2008 if you… Want a good all-round SUV that offers tremendous value for money.
