Read more about the Audi e-tron 50

This is the car for you if… you want an electric car that delivers comfort and luxury.

The Audi e-tron 50 Quattro Technik has raised the bar for both the performance and comfort of electric cars. If you’re after quality and luxury, then the e-tron 50 Quattro will give you a ride like no other.

This performance SUV brings luxury to the electric car market. The E-Tron stays true to Audi with classic Audi styling – such as the octagonal front grille, and SUV shape and lines. But look a little closer and you’ll spot some new details specific to the e-tron. Like the unique light signature. And 20-inch contrasting grey alloy wheels.

Then there are the e-tron’s exclusive state-of-the art touches. Such as optional virtual door mirrors that stream a view of what’s behind onto displays within the front doors. Zoom in and out, or adjust the position to get the best view of what’s happening outside at any time. They’re a neat (additional) feature, which bring wing mirrors into the 21st century. Plus their smaller size reduces drag and wind noise. Giving a boost to your battery efficiency too.

The e-tron comes with a 71kWh battery and has a WLTP range of 186 miles. And given how comfortable it is to drive, you’ll want to clock up those miles…

Because above all, the e-tron is a car for relaxing in. For sitting back and enjoying the ride. The interior is minimalist and understated – yet luxurious. These are definitely not seats you’ll want small children to leave scuff marks on.

It’s a car that doesn’t brag about its luxury status. But it’s quietly evident all the same. The finish is first-class and the tech second to none. There isn’t one, but two touchscreens in the e-tron. And instead of navigating through the different menus, you can use your voice to change the temperature or switch radio station. There’s also a customisable virtual cockpit. Several different driving modes. And more sensors and driver assist technologies than you ever knew you needed.

The e-tron feels roomy inside – especially as there’s no centre tunnel – and more than comfortably seats five adults. There’s also a 600-litre boot for throwing in all shapes and sizes of luggage, buggies and sports equipment. So the e-tron ticks all the boxes as a family SUV.

Where the e-tron also excels is in noise – or rather, the lack of it. There’s almost total noise insulation inside. So you’ll notice how little you can hear from the outside world. And with adaptive air suspension as standard, you won’t pick up on much road noise either.

Audi fans won’t be disappointed by its performance. With two electric motors, the e-tron is a powerful car – and one that can do 0-62mph in less than six seconds. There’s electric all-wheel drive, so it grips the road firmly. And its substantial weight makes it feel sturdy on the road.

But because the e-tron is such a relaxing car to drive, you might not notice any of this anyway. For what the e-tron really excels in is comfort and luxury. And if these your top two priorities in an electric vehicle, then look no further than this first-class SUV.

Our three favourite Audi e-tron 50 Quattro Technik features

  1. As you’d expect from this luxury SUV, there’s no bog-standard stereo onboard. But instead a premium sound system with unique 3D loudspeakers from the world-leading Bang & Olufsen.
  2. There are two charging points on the e-tron – on the driver’s door and passenger side – making it a doddle to recharge when out and about.
  3. The e-tron is packed with safety features, like Audi’s Pre-sense 360 system. This warns you of any objects in front – even automatically applying the brakes if necessary – and comes as standard.

You’ll like the Audi e-tron 50 Quattro Technik if you… are an Audi aficionado that wants to go fully electric.

Did you know?

Electric cars are efficient to run - we’ve calculated the annual savings you could make on your fuel costs, based on driving 10,000 miles per year:

You could save over £827* per year

*Fuel saving estimate assumes an average diesel fuel pence per mile cost of 11.78p per mile based on Audi Q5 40 TDI Sport Diesel and an Audi e-Tron Technik electric car cost of 3p per mile, based on an efficiency of 2.70 miles per kWh and an electricity price of 9p/kWh based on EDF’s GoElectric 98 Jan 22 off-peak pricing. The fuel-saving estimate is not guaranteed and could vary depending on your current vehicle MPG performance and the actual cost of electricity.

Audi e-tron whole life costs

Running an electric vehicle as a company car could save you significant sums, thanks to fuel savings and incentives from the government on company car tax.

For this tax year, 2020/21, electric company cars have a 0% taxable benefit, so you won’t pay any company car tax or employer national insurance costs

The company car rates for electric vehicles for the next 2 tax years are 1% and 2% of the taxable list price (p11d), so you will continue to make savings compared to a traditionally fuelled vehicle.

The table below shows that when you consider all the costs, rather than just comparing the lease rate, and how running your next vehicle as an electric company car, can add real value to your bottom line.

If your business is paying corporation tax, you can usually offset all your rentals against your taxable profits each year and if you’re VAT registered you can normally claim back 50% of any VAT on the finance element of your lease agreement. If you select the optional maintenance package you can reclaim 100% of the VAT on that element.

Many business owners opted away from company cars as the company tax payable became too large a cost over recent years and run a private vehicle. Running a new electric company car may well prove cheaper and allow you to replace an older, less economical model and reduce your costs.
