EDF Customer Football Free Electricity Event 2026 Terms & Conditions

Terms and Conditions – EDF Football Free Electricity Event 2026:

These terms and conditions apply to any period where EDF chooses to supply free electricity to its customers for a period during matches played by either England or Scotland in the FIFA World Cup 2026 (this supply of free electricity being the “Event”).

We are not a sponsor of the FIFA World Cup 2026, nor do we have any official affiliation with it.

A “Match” will mean any match in the FIFA World Cup 2026 in which England or Scotland is one of the two teams playing.

References to “you” and “your” mean the EDF domestic electricity customer that has signed up to take part in the Event.

References to “we”, “us” or “our” mean EDF Energy Customers Limited trading as EDF, a company incorporated in England and Wales with company number 02228297, whose registered address is at Nova North, 11 Bressenden Place, London, SW1E 5BY.

  1. These terms and conditions are between us and you. These terms and conditions do not amend your existing energy supply contract with us.
  2. If you are already participating in EDF Sunday Saver, the EDF Sunday Saver terms and conditions will apply in priority of these Event terms and conditions. You will still receive the free electricity during the Event period in accordance with the EDF Sunday Saver terms and conditions.
  3. To be eligible for the Event, you must:

    (a) sign up for the Event via Energy Hub prior to 23:59 on the day before a Match (you will receive free electricity for all Matches after this);

    (b) at all times comply with these terms and conditions;

    (c) be aged 18 or over;

    (d) reside in England, Scotland or Wales;

    (e) be a current domestic electricity customer of EDF;

    (f) have a working electricity smart meter (meaning a meter that records information such as consumption of energy and can directly supply us with meter readings) that provides half-hourly meter readings;

    (g) have consented, and not removed your consent, to giving us half-hourly meter reads;

    (h) have exactly one electricity import meter point administration number;

    (i) be on an electricity tariff that has no more than two unit rates;

    (j) have a valid mobile number on your account; and

    (k) meet these eligibility criteria from the point at which you sign up for the Event under Clause 3.a) until the point at which the credit for the free electricity is issued on your invoice

  4. The period for which we will supply free electricity to you where the other criteria in these terms and conditions are met will be as follows:
    1. during Matches in the group stage, two hours of free electricity; and
    2. during Matches after the group stage until the end of the FIFA World Cup 2026 and where that Match goes to extra time, three hours.
  5. We will calculate any credits due to you as part of the Event by multiplying your total electricity consumption during the periods set out in Clause 4 by the relevant unit rate of your electricity tariff. Where you are also participating in EDF Sunday Saver challenge, and your free hours under that challenge overlap with a Match, electricity consumed during the overlapping period will be credited in line with the EDF Sunday Saver challenge. Any remaining Match time (within the periods set out in Clause 4) that falls outside those free hours under the EDF Sunday Saver challenge will be credited under this Event.
  6. If we make any overpayment or underpayment to you, we may adjust future payments to reflect this or require reimbursement of any overpayment. Any notified payments are inclusive of VAT.
  7. We are under no obligation to make any payment to you if we are unable to obtain your meter reads to calculate your electricity usage during a Match. However, if we obtain less than 90% of your half-hourly meter reads during any Match we may provide you with a credit in an amount equal to the average amount credited to all other participating EDF customers for that Match.
  8. By participating in the Event, you agree to receive communication from us via email, SMS, and WhatsApp providing information related to the Event.
  9. By participating in the Event, you warrant that all information submitted is true, current, and complete. If any information is found to be fraudulent or incorrectly completed or if we have reasonable grounds to believe that you are in breach of these terms and conditions or are no longer eligible, we may remove you from the Event and reclaim any payments made.
  10. We are not liable to you for any loss that is incurred under the Event, including but not limited to any losses which arise from any technological or procedural omission, failures, or errors and/or any action or inaction by us or any third parties or an event beyond direct control on which we may rely upon in order to provide the Event to you.
  11. In our sole discretion, we reserve the right to reject or revoke your participation in the Event, withdraw from or pause the Event, and/or amend these terms and conditions without prior notice. Any decision taken by us under this Clause 10 shall be effective immediately. We shall notify you if amendments are made to these terms and conditions. We reserve the right to change the terms and conditions in compliance with judicial or regulatory rulings and will not be held liable.
  12. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim (including non-contractual disputes or claims) arising out of or in connection with these terms and conditions, their subject matter or formation.
