Legal, strategy and compliance jobs
Helping us to navigate a strategic path through the often complex frameworks that form part of the energy industry are EDF’s legal, strategy and compliance professionals. What they do is critical to our aims and ambitions, and in return, a role at the heart of one of the UK’s largest energy companies is very much there for the taking.
Careers in legal, strategy and compliance
“The scale of offshore wind is immense – and it’s an ever-changing industry; nothing stands still.”
Working in the offshore development team, Ryanne Burges, Head of Offshore Development for EDF Renewables, is directly contributing to a Net Zero future. A lawyer by training, Ryanne’s experience in private practice working on large infrastructure projects and her in-house learning about project design and development, have enabled her to transfer her knowledge and skills to EDF Renewables UK.
“I’m proud that sustainability is now formally at the core of EDF’s purpose.”
As Sustainable Business Manager in our Corporate Strategy team, Kim Wilson focuses on four key areas that EDF has identified for change in order to help Britain achieve Net Zero: first, ensuring the electricity we generate is lower in carbon than ever before. Second, helping our five million customers switch to more low-carbon lifestyles. Next, helping business customers take more ownership of their energy use. Finally, ensuring the way we transform our business is fair and positive for the environment.

What projects could I work on at EDF?

The Green Recovery
In November 2020 10 Downing Street released a Ten Point Plan for a Green Recovery in the UK. EDF fully backs this plan with our exciting nuclear development project, Hinkley Point C, creating jobs across the UK and having the ability to power millions of homes with low carbon electricity. Sizewell C is ready to do the same.
Here’s how EDF’s UK CEO, Simone Rossi, responded to the announcement: “The Government announcement is a game changer and we are right behind it. We have a huge contribution to make across nuclear, wind, solar, storage, hydrogen, electric heating, energy saving and electric vehicles. Hinkley Point C is providing £14 billion of work to the UK supply chain and Sizewell C is ready to create great jobs across the country now.”

Helping Britain achieve Net Zero
Lots of companies are talking about tackling climate change. But as Britain’s largest generator of low-carbon electricity, we’re actually doing something significant about it. That’s the EDF difference and having one purpose across everything we do helps our customers and stakeholders better understand what we’re all about.
We’re busy building new power stations and renewables projects that will help meet Britain’s future electricity demand. This is good for the environment, and good for the economy too because we’re investing billions with British businesses and creating thousands of job opportunities.
