Because EDF is one of the largest energy companies in the UK, the opportunities for finance professionals to grow their skill set and build a successful career exist in abundance.
Wholesale Markets Optimisation is at the commercial heart of EDF’s Customers and Generation business units.
I'm responsible for updating the Risk Mandate, which describes EDF’s trading strategies; reviewing our risk control framework and reviewing business proposals to ensure that markets risks have been adequately assessed.
EDF has great values and its focus on a low carbon future attracted me to the company.
The rotational nature of the Finance graduate programme enables me to work in different business areas, increasing my professional network and offering a breadth of experience, with the added bonus of pursuing my CIMA qualification!
What projects could I work on at EDF?

Sizewell C
As part of our plan to secure a low-carbon energy future, EDF is leading the way in building a fleet of safe, reliable nuclear power stations in the UK. Together with our partner China General Nuclear, we’re developing proposals to build and operate a new power station on the Suffolk coast, known as Sizewell C (SZC).
The SZC Project Team is a growing, diverse and collaborative organisation committed to engaging stakeholders, obtaining development consent and preparing the project for the start of construction. The Finance team plays a key role in the day to day running of the project and is a vital support to decision making by the SZC Leadership team and external stakeholders

Wholesale Markets Optimisation
Wholesale Markets Optimisation (WMO) maximises the commercial value and manages the risk associated with the generation and supply sides of the business, with customer-centricity and cost-effectiveness at the heart of everything we do.
From forecasting customer demand, developing hedging strategies, carrying out market analysis in response to regulatory changes, or being part of the portfolio operations team who manage our position 24/7.
