If you want to experience working in a dynamic communications function supporting one of the largest construction projects in Europe, then spend a year with our Nuclear New Build Communications team. Whether you are communicating with our on-site workforce, our teams in France and the UK, the local community or our external suppliers, you’ll have the opportunity to discover everything it takes to build and maintain the profile of a nationally important infrastructure project.

  • You’ll be on track to achieve or will have already achieved a 2:1 undergraduate or 2:2 postgraduate qualification preferably in a Communications/PR or Marketing discipline
  • You’ll need to have a professional outlook, a creative mind and a real team spirit
  • Above all, you’ll need to be flexible and keen to make the most of the year by taking on whatever tasks you’re presented with.

More detail

The Communications Industrial Placement will support the Nuclear New Build Communications teams across a number of disciplines. In particular they will assist with the staff communications and engagement programme, interacting with a wide range of stakeholders from the senior leadership team down. They will also help provide professional advice and direction on a number of discrete communications programmes and will be required to support the External Communications and Community Relations teams with building local community and external stakeholder relationships for specific projects as required.

Most of what you learn will be on the job, with support from your mentor and the teams you work in. Some Industrial Placements come with opportunities for further technical training as needed.

It’s worth noting that we don’t offer relocation help for Industrial Placements. So if the placement you’re applying for isn’t in your local area, you’ll need to be able to cover the cost of moving to and living there yourself. This Industrial Placement is based at Hinkley Point C in Somerset.

Hinkley Point, Somerset

Applications will open on Monday 4th September 2017 and will close at midnight on 8th December 2017.

We receive a large volume of applications each year and whilst we aim to consider everyone, our approach is to review and consider applications in the order that they are received. We may close some schemes early if we receive a large number of applications and therefore we would encourage candidates to apply early to avoid disappointment.
