Responsible for understanding our customers’ commercial requirements, the Commercial Development Team intelligently structure their contracts to deliver the best possible outcome. The team’s particular focus is identifying sources of finance (both internal and external) for projects where required.
Generating leads, engaging customers and clients, structuring proposals and closing deals, the Business Development Team is focussed on bringing in new contracts for B2B Energy Services. Plus, they help us understand the needs of the customers we already have – managing their accounts and keeping everyone on the same page (both internal and external) for projects where required.
Our Engineering Solutions Team meets with clients to understand their needs before auditing sites to identify opportunities for energy optimisation, reduction or generation. After developing technical solutions, they work with the Business Development Team to present their proposals back to the customer. Once the solutions are put in place, the Engineering Solutions Team measure and verifies how well the solution is performing.
Our Project Delivery Team is responsible for making sure that all proposed solutions are delivered on time, on budget and to a high quality. And, of course, with Zero Harm to the customer, their business and the public. You can read more about our approach to Zero Harm here.
Product & Proposition Development
Our Product & Proposition Development Team keeps a close eye on the activities of our competitors. As well as conducting detailed competitor and market research, this team spots new technologies and services, develops our own new service offerings and manages all our products, propositions and services after they’ve launched.
The highly-skilled Operations Team performs an extremely important function for the B2B Energy Services business. It provides both on-site and remote operation and maintenance of energy generation assets, which can include CHP, district heating networks and renewable energy centres.
The standard EDF Energy LEAP (Learning & Educational Assistance Programme) and L4A (Learning for All) applies to everyone at B2B Energy Services, plus you’ll receive specific training depending on your exact role. But no matter what team you’re in or what you’re doing, you’ll be presented with a host of exciting opportunities to develop your skills and grow your career.
Working in the Commercial Development Team will give you fantastic exposure to project finance and commercial structuring.
You’ll gain valuable experience of business development, sales and contract negotiation. Plus, you’ll get to grips with energy markets, legal and financial training.
Start off in the entry level position of Technical Energy Analyst and, with support and guidance, you’ll be able to progress to Energy Engineer and Senior Energy Engineer. You’ll spend the minimum amount of time training and developing each year – Continuous Professional Development (CPD) – and your training subjects will include energy auditing, technology specific CPD, working with Research & Development, project management (PRINCE2) and EDF Energy Project Way (EEPW) and Health & Safety qualifications like IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health). On top of all that, you’ll work towards Chartered Engineer and Chartered Energy Engineer status (CEng).
There’s no entry level role in the Project Delivery Team, so you’ll need some experience to secure a position. Your training subjects will include project management; PRINCE2, EEPW, Association of Project Managers (APM) and Health & Safety qualifications (e.g. IOSH). Plus, you’ll work towards Chartered Engineer (CEng), Chartered Energy Engineer status and Chartered Project Manager status.
Product & Proposition Development
Join as an entry-level Product Executive and, with training, you could soon progress to Senior Product Executive. Training in this team will involve energy markets, project management (PRINCE2 and EEPW). Plus, you’ll work towards gaining industry recognition such as gaining Chartered Marketer status (CIM – Chartered Institute of Marketing).
As you’ll deal with energy generation assets on a day-to-day basis, you’ll receive both health and safety training and the technical qualifications you’ll need to work on site in a plant room or energy centre.

Whichever B2B Energy Services team you join, you can expect a certain degree of travel. This could involve visiting different sites across the UK or, depending on your role, travelling across Europe to meet customers and suppliers.
The Commercial and Product & Proposition Development teams are mainly office-based (in either London, Exeter or Barnwood), but are required to travel for customer meetings from time to time.
The Engineering Solutions and Project Delivery teams typically meet with suppliers and customers three days a week, spending the other days working in either an office (usually London) or at a remote location. Some European travel may also be possible.
The Business Development Team generally meets with customers three days a week, spending the remaining 2 days either in the office or working remotely.
And because it’s a more hands-on role, the Operations Team is usually either regionally or site-based.
