Overview

We’re passionate about a brighter, low-carbon future. And our customers are too. B2B Energy Services helps our public sector, commercial and industrial customers make their businesses as sustainable as possible – in terms of profitability, environmental impact, social responsibility and much, much more. Spotting opportunities and designing solutions, we deliver projects which help our customers optimise, reduce and generate energy at their sites – good for business and good for the environment.

These projects range from consultancy, desk-based analysis and remote control of site assets right the way through to the installation of smart control systems and innovative, energy efficient technologies. This can even include large scale renewable energy generation and Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems.

Our customers include schools, universities and hospitals; offices, data centres and retail; hospitality, leisure and sports arenas; manufacturing, industrial and transport. It’s an incredibly varied remit and we deal with sites all over the UK and Europe. And the business is growing fast, which involves working closely with departments and companies right across the EDF Group. It also means that people who work in B2B Energy Services get fantastic opportunities to travel and work across the UK and in Europe.

What it's like

As an operation, B2B Energy Services is dynamic. A fast-growing team, it offers employees the chance to own and deliver a whole host of different projects, all of which are designed to make a real, tangible difference to the organisations of our B2B customers. People who tend to do well are enthusiastic, results driven, and enjoy working in a high-performing, multidisciplinary and multinational team.

Unlike a lot of other Energy Services companies, B2B Energy Services isn’t tied to a single technology or commercial structure. Instead, we take time to completely understand a customer’s needs before designing an innovative, bespoke solution capable of delivering benefits far beyond the terms of the contract. And unlike traditional consultancy, we can also deliver the solution – meaning that the proposed benefits are actually realised. Click on the links below to discover more about our work.

The Energy Services Team

Commercial development

Commercial development

Responsible for understanding our customers’ commercial requirements, the Commercial Development Team intelligently structure their contracts to deliver the best possible outcome. The team’s particular focus is identifying sources of finance (both internal and external) for projects where required.

Business Development

Business Development

Generating leads, engaging customers and clients, structuring proposals and closing deals, the Business Development Team is focussed on bringing in new contracts for B2B Energy Services. Plus, they help us understand the needs of the customers we already have – managing their accounts and keeping everyone on the same page (both internal and external) for projects where required.

Engineering Solutions

Energy Solutions

Our Engineering Solutions Team meets with clients to understand their needs before auditing sites to identify opportunities for energy optimisation, reduction or generation. After developing technical solutions, they work with the Business Development Team to present their proposals back to the customer. Once the solutions are put in place, the Engineering Solutions Team measure and verifies how well the solution is performing.

Product & Proposition Development

Product & Proposition Development

Our Product & Proposition Development Team keeps a close eye on the activities of our competitors. As well as conducting detailed competitor and market research, this team spots new technologies and services, develops our own new service offerings and manages all our products, propositions and services after they’ve launched.

As you’ll deal with energy generation assets on a day-to-day basis, you’ll receive both health and safety training and the technical qualifications you’ll need to work on site in a plant room or energy centre.

Location

Whichever B2B Energy Services team you join, you can expect a certain degree of travel. This could involve visiting different sites across the UK or, depending on your role, travelling across Europe to meet customers and suppliers.

The Commercial and Product & Proposition Development teams are mainly office-based (in either London, Exeter or Barnwood), but are required to travel for customer meetings from time to time.

The Engineering Solutions and Project Delivery teams typically meet with suppliers and customers three days a week, spending the other days working in either an office (usually London) or at a remote location. Some European travel may also be possible.

The Business Development Team generally meets with customers three days a week, spending the remaining 2 days either in the office or working remotely.

And because it’s a more hands-on role, the Operations Team is usually either regionally or site-based.
