Supplying our communities with food

Donating surplus food to charities

Following the closure of our catering outlets on Monday 30 March the Property Services team worked with our catering provider Elior, to ensure that any perishables and stock that would have reached expiry dates over the next couple of months were passed onto good causes in the communities that we serve.

Hove have  donated 2 boxes of jacket potatoes, 5kg red onion, 5kg white onion, 5kg mushrooms and 2kg leeks to a local charity  called Fareshare.   The items will be redistribute to other charity groups including  older peoples lunch clubs and homeless shelters.  Exeter have donated, 5kg tomatoes, 8kg red onion,  1 box jacket potatoes & 2 Iceberg lettuce to the salvation army, who are providing food to the homeless.

Both organisations were delighted with the donations, saying that the current pandemic was having a real impact on donations.

Food bank collection

There have been lots of donations made by generous EDF staff and contractors based on site over this time which have already been distributed  to people less fortunate in our local community.

Our Imtech Inviron colleagues at our East Kilbride office have established a relationship with a local foodbank Loaves and Fishes over recent months.  The current pandemic has not stopped another donation being made today.  Ensuring all safety and social distancing measures were followed the Imtech Inviron team have once again delivered much needed supplies - this time there were a number of Easter Eggs included!  Well done #TEAMEKI.
