We want to understand our stakeholders’ views, so we communicate with various organisations in a number of ways. The information we get has a practical influence on our business activities.

We interact with many organisations during our day-to-day operations. This helps us to understand the general public’s perceptions and needs – and to better understand the impact we have.

Understanding our stakeholders’ priorities also helps us to make sure our communications and services meet their needs.

At a strategic level, we also call on the expertise of special interest groups via our Stakeholder Advisory Panel, which gives us feedback and advice on our strategy and business development. The Panel played a key role in the launch Our Climate Commitments and Our Social Commitments – the precursors to Our Sustainability Commitments – helping to select targets and agree how they will be met.

We also run stakeholder events, which provide an important forum for our senior management to hear the views of a wide range of influential organisations on a number of issues that affect our business.
