Our corporate governance framework ensures that we operate efficiently, safely and effectively, comply with regulations and report our performance accurately.

Our corporate governance policy was put in place by our Board of Directors. It ensures that we deliver energy services safely and profitably, maximising our investments on behalf of our shareholders and other stakeholders.

We adjust our business objectives to match our constantly changing environment. Our corporate governance is robust enough to ensure we set appropriate objectives and manage the associated risks efficiently and economically.

How corporate governance works within EDF Energy

Our board is responsible for our corporate governance policies and ultimately accountable for every decision we make. The board delegates decision-making authority to our executive committee, led by our Chief Executive, and the executive team.

The executive committee ensures our corporate governance policies and other control and risk management systems are implemented correctly.

Corporate Responsibility and Environment panel

We established a Corporate Responsibility and Environment (CR&E) policy and standards panel in 2006, which is chaired by our Brand, Sustainability and Communications Director. The panel helps us achieve the performance, strategic direction and cross-company co-ordination required for our sustainability ambitions. It also helps develop clear strategy and standards on key corporate responsibility issues and monitors our compliance with these standards. Panel members act as sustainability champions within their own parts of the company, helping to establish a clear agenda for sustainability and promote collaborative action and achievement.
