EDF Energy is a wholly owned subsidiary of EDF, one of Europe’s largest energy groups. EDF has the lowest carbon emissions of the major European energy companies. The carbon intensity of electricity supplied by EDF in France is around a tenth of the UK average.

EDF has a long-standing commitment to sustainable development. As one of the world’s premier energy firms, EDF is doing its share to help the world meet the energy challenges by bolstering investments, improving energy efficiency, acting on a global scale, and motivating all employees to do their part.

Sustainable development is integrated in to EDF’s strategy and has a key role to play in delivering its mission: to be the European leader of tomorrow’s energies. It provides direction for the company’s activities in generation, sales and marketing, research and development as well as stakeholder dialogue.

In the UK we have defined our sustainability agenda through our climate and social commitments, which are closely aligned to EDF’s sustainable development position. Together, our commitments represent on of the biggest packages of sustainability initiatives launched by any major British company.
