Very occasionally we may need to switch your power off so that we can work safely on our equipment.

Wherever possible, we try to keep your power on. We might supply you from another substation, or we might bring in a temporary mobile generator. Switching your power off is a last resort.

We might need to switch the power off so that we can:

  • Maintain the equipment that brings the power to your home or business
  • Make new connections to our network
  • Refurbish, repair or replace our equipment

If we need to switch your power off for any of these reasons we will tell you in advance. We will send you a letter that will give you the times we expect to switch the power off and on.

We will provide you with a telephone number to call for advice if you are worried or seriously ill.
