As the operator of three electricity distribution networks, a large infrastructure developer and the in-area energy supplier for London, the south east and the south west, we have a major physical and business presence in the communities we serve.
We aim to be a responsible neighbour. This means that we seek to minimise any harm caused by our operations and more than compensate by providing a high standard of service to our customers and by sharing our financial health.
This section covers the main community issues we manage, including community health and safety, EMF and our community investment.
EDF Energy is an active member of the LBG (London Benchmarking Group). The LBG model helps businesses to improve the management, measurement and reporting of their corporate community involvement programmes. It moves beyond charitable donations to include the full range of contributions (in time, in kind and in cash) made to community causes, and assesses the actual results for the community and for the business. (See www.lbg-online.net for more information).
As managers of the Group, we have worked with EDF Energy to ensure that it understands the LBG model and applies its principles to the measurement of community involvement programmes. Having conducted an assessment, we are satisfied that this has been achieved. We note the revised treatment of contributions relating to the EDF Energy Trust Fund which are now reported in terms of grants made from the trust to external community organisations. Our work has not extended to an independent audit of the data.
