Ambition 5: Point of Reference

How we are recognised

The EDF Energy name, while not well known, is well regarded by our stakeholders. The financial community has given us a Grade A credit rating. Our regulator applauded when we became the first energy company to charge our pre-payment customers the same rate as regular customers. We provide our shareholder with 10% of its profits from 7% of the staff. We are a respected member of our local communities in which our staff annually donate their time to work in a wide range of community and charitable projects, which as an aggregate is equivalent to 20 years of full-time work. Most importantly, we are well-regarded by our customers who may know us by one of our retail brand names, and our reputation is enhanced by our staff, who won two national customer service awards.

Our Chief Executive, Vincent de Rivaz, was recognised at a ceremony held at Buckingham Palace for the companies which BITC holds in the highest regard, when HRH The Prince of Wales, particularly impressed by EDF Energy's charitable and environmental programmes, announced: 'I wish all companies could be like EDF Energy'.

During 2005 we will undertake an extensive series of stakeholder engagement exercises, designed to explore the perceptions stakeholders have of EDF Energy and what they want to see the company do in the future.
