Performance Report 2004
At a Glance

EDF Energy is one of the largest energy companies in the UK. We generate around 7.6% of the UK's electricity, employ over 11,500 people and have a quarter of the UK population depending on us for their electricity. We are a wholly-owned subsidiary of EDF.

We supply around five million customer product accounts through our retail brands Seeboard Energy, SWEB Energy, London Energy and EDF Energy. We own and manage the electricity distribution networks covering London, the south east and the east of England. We operate coal-fired and gas-fired power stations, private combined heat and power (CHP) plants and wind farms.

In addition, we are the largest utilities company in the PFI/PPP market, having important contracts at BAA's Heathrow, Gatwick and Stanstead airports, the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, the London Underground and Canary Wharf.

Our operations are split among four branches: 'Energy' and 'Customers' branches, which produce, trade and supply electricity, 'Networks', which manages our regulated distribution networks, and 'Development, which operates electrical infrastructure, asset management and construction business operations in the commercial market.
