As an entirely UK-based company, EDF Energy has not traditionally set human rights as a priority issue. However, it is EDF Energy's policy to respect the fundamental rights of individuals potentially affected by our operations. These individuals can include, not necessarily exclusively, our employees and contractors, those employed by our suppliers, our customers and our neighbours.
During 2005 we developed a formal Human Rights Policy. It builds on the many existing policies covering our employees, health and safety, ethical procurement, fuel poverty and data protection. It also draws in elements of the internationally recognised principles laid out in the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.
