Vulnerable Customers: Prepayment Customers

A prepayment meter allows customers to pay for electricity as they go, with no need for quarterly meter readings or bills. And because customers pay for their electricity as they use it, a prepayment meter can help them to budget better.

Last year we became the first energy company to align our pre-payment tariffs with standard tariffs to end higher charges for customers with prepayment meters. We received good feedback from our customers, and customer 'churn' has been reduced.

We were also the first supplier in the industry to provide prepayment customers with quarterly statements instead of annual ones. This provides better communication, improves data quality, and encourages energy efficiency as a result of better understanding of consumption.
