Whilst the electrical infrastructure is an important part of the essential infrastructure for any large development, it is seldom given much consideration by the occupants once they move in. In the 21st century it is not an unrealistic expectation that lights and power will be available at the flick of a switch, and stay on.

Our Service

As our dependency on electricity continues to increase, there's a growing need for effective management and maintenance of the building electrical infrastructure to ensure that a resilient and secure electricity supply is maintained.

EDF Energy provides operational and maintenance services to the privately owned HV and LV infrastructure used to distribute power in large multi-tenanted properties contained within the Canary Wharf development and other sites in London.

Multi-tenanted building configuration

Working with our clients we can configure a multi-tenanted building in order to relieve the landlord of the responsibility to administer and apportion charges and obtain payment from his tenants, covering their share of an overall building electricity supply charge.

The consequential benefit is that the tenants obtain access to the competitive supply market, a considerable advantage to many, allowing them to benefit from group electricity contracts.

A holistic network approach

We work closely with building infrastructure designers to achieve a holistic approach to the network, looking at the interaction of network security from the connection and operation of the National Grid system, DNO connection to the low voltage supply points embedded within the building. This is an integral part of providing high security of supply, a requirement for many tenants, particularly for trading floors in the financial services sector, most of which operate on an enhanced (N-2) resilience.
