EDF Energy Contracting’s contract was to design and build a replacement riser and lateral installation to the Avondale Square Estate which consisted of 16 individual residential blocks, three of which were 20 storey high rise tower blocks off the Old Kent road in London. Each flat was given a new 100amp single phase supply, this also included the supply and fitting of new fuseboards. In addition to the new riser and lateral installation the contract included for design and build of a communal lighting and emergency lighting installation to the entire estate.
When a major refurbishment of all lighting and power was required at the Kent & Canterbury Hospital, great care had to be taken to ensure that the smooth running of the Accident & Emergency Department was in operation.
To minimise any disturbance to staff and patients, the work was carried out over a bank holiday weekend by EDF Energy Contracting staff from their locally based office in Dover.
EDF Energy Contracting has been an electrical contractor to Chartwell, former home of Sir Winston Churchill’s, for half a century.
This recent project for the National Trust has included the provision of a complete electrical wiring survey and new wiring in the souvenir shop and restaurant, plus installation of fire alarms.
Maintenance contracts for Sussex University have seen EDF Energy Contracting busy carrying out electrical safety inspections of the lighting and power outlets including the testing of 14,500 portable electrical appliances across the whole of the Sussex University complex near Brighton, East Sussex.
This in turn has provided unique bar-coded identification labels for each individual item of equipment and a comprehensive database giving descriptions, locations, serial numbers and results certificates, all compiled and presented to the University in binders and on CD.
