There are lots of different ways to pay your gas and electricity bills. Just choose the method that suits you best.

Set up a Monthly Direct Debit today and take the hassle out of paying your bill.

Direct Debit – you can pay your gas and electricity bills monthly or quarterly by Direct Debit. If you’re already an EDF Energy customer, call us now on 0800 096 9000† to set up your Monthly Direct Debit payment – or sign up to monthly Direct Debit now.

Debit or credit card – use your Visa, MasterCard, Maestro or Delta to pay your gas and electricity bills over the phone.

EnergyCard – a great way to spread the cost of your gas and electricity bills. For more details about using an EnergyCard, please call customer services on 0800 096 9000† and ask for a leaflet.

MyAccount – you can now control your EDF Energy account online with MyAccount. Our secure, web-based service gives you everything you need to look after your account in one place. Register here.

Telephone or Internet banking – to pay your gas and electricity bills this way you’ll need our sort code and account number plus your EDF Energy account number. You’ll find the information you need on the back of your gas and electricity bills.

By post – if you pay your gas and electricity bills by post, make your cheque payable to EDF Energy Customers plc and write your EDF Energy account number on the back. Send your cheque to the address printed on the back of your gas and electricity bills.

Post Office – you can pay your gas and electricity bills at the Post Office, but they may charge you for this service.

Bank or Building Society – you can pay your gas and electricity bills by cash or cheque at your bank or building society, but they may charge you for this service. Cheques should be payable to EDF Energy Customers plc and your EDF Energy account number should be written on the back.

Prepayment meter – our home prepayment meters let you pay as you go for the energy you use, but you’ll need to let us know if you want to switch your gas and electricity to a prepayment meter. Find out more about EDF Energy Pay As You Go.

EDF Energy Trust Fund
As well as free advice from Citizens Advice you may be able to get a grant from the EDF Energy Trust – an independent registered charity that helps people take control of their finances to help reduce their debts.

Providing you with free and independent advice

We know that bills sometimes arrive when you’re least able to pay them, so we’ve teamed up with Citizens Advice to provide extra help and support.

Citizens Advice offer free, confidential and impartial debt advice through their expert staff across nearly 400 advice centers.

EDF Energy customers can call free on 0808 1566666 (free from a landline) or 0300 3300519 from a mobile (calls to all 03 numbers cost no more than from an ordinary 01 or 02 geographic number and are included in ‘free minutes’ monthly contract packages) for advice and support to help manage your financial situation, including: 

  • help to maximize your income
  • advice on claiming Benefits and Tax Credits  
  • help to manage your money and prioritise paying your bills
  • help negotiating with other companies to set-up long term payment arrangements, to help you pay existing debts and future bills.  

 

The advice line is available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9am–5pm; Tuesday and Thursday 9am–8pm; and Saturday morning 9am–12 noon.

You must be an EDF Energy customer to register for our Direct Debit option. To speed up your registration please have your EDF Energy account number(s) handy when you call. You’ll find them on your latest gas and electricity bills.

Direct Debit is not available to customers receiving a supply though a prepayment meter.
