We’re always looking for ways to improve our service – we’ve even redesigned our bills to take into account comments and suggestions from our customers. Take a closer look and we’ll explain what’s in your energy bill.

What’s in your energy bill?

Your gas and electricity bills contain a lot of useful information. They show at a glance how much energy you used since your last bill, how this compares with the previous quarter and with the same quarter last year.

We’re the first energy supplier to include this information – it could help you to use energy more efficiently and save on your energy bills.

The Billing Code

The Code of Practice for Accurate Bills (the “Billing Code”) was launched in July 2006 by the Energy Retail Association (ERA) along-side the Energy Ombudsman. The Billing Code provides consumers with additional protection over and above that required by the regulator OFGEM for accurate and informative billing.

The Code includes a requirement for consumers to be protected from debt where the supplier is at fault for not billing energy supply. Where the supplier is at fault, consumers cannot be back-billed beyond 12 months from the date on any subsequent bill.

You can view the code in full here

For guidance on applying the Billing Code please refer to the scenario document here
