Insulating your hot water cylinder or water tank is a good way to use energy more efficiently in your home.

How it works

The solid foam surrounding, or jacket of a well-insulated hot water cylinder or tank will keep your water hotter for longer and you will waste less energy heating it.

How it’s installed

Most hot water cylinders and tanks are factory-fitted with solid foam insulation or an insulated jacket – but further insulation can be installed as a DIY task. If your cylinder or tank is bare or still gets hot despite its insulating layer, fit an 80mm insulating jacket to improve its performance.
