If your electricity meter is inconveniently positioned we’ll try our best to move it to for you.

If you only need to move your meter within your meter box or across your meter board, your electricity supplier can co-ordinate this for you.

If however, you want to move your meter a greater distance, this needs to be co-ordinated by the company that manages the electricity distribution network (basically, the underground cables and overhead power lines) in your local area.

You will need to appoint an electrician who is approved to BS 7671 standards to carry out your internal wiring. Your local distribution company will then lay a new service to the place where you want the meter, move the meter, and connect it to the wires prepared by your electrician.

If we sell you energy but don’t manage your local network, you’ll have to contact the company that does to ask them to arrange a meter move. Your network operator will be listed on your electricity bill. Check who they are then contact them to arrange to move your meter.
