Moving home
Got an energy related question about moving home? Chances are you’ll find the answer here.
- When should I let you know I’m moving?
-
Call to tell us your new details at least 2 weeks before you move. This gives us time to arrange for a meter reader to visit your old home to make a final reading, although you can also do it yourself on the day you move.
- Who provides the gas or electricity for my new home?
-
To find out who your gas supplier is, call National Grid on 0870 608 1524†. To identify your local electricity supplier, call our Home Movers team on 0800 096 2250†.
- How can I make EDF Energy the energy supplier for my new home?
-
It couldn’t be easier. You can complete our online moving home form or call our Home Movers team on 0800 096 2250† to make EDF Energy your energy supplier.
- What should I do with the energy bills I receive for the previous resident?
-
You can forward them to the previous resident, contact the landlord or letting agent, or send them back to us.
- Do I have to read the meter in my new home?
-
You do not have to, but your account will be more accurate if your opening meter reading is accurate. You can tell us your opening meter reading online using our Meter Reading form or phone it through to our Home Movers team on 0800 096 2250†.
- Can I transfer my closing balance or Direct Debit to my new home?
-
Yes, as long as we supply energy to your new home, we can transfer both your closing balance and Direct Debit.
- How do I change the account from my partner’s name to my own name?
-
Send us written confirmation signed by you and your partner, confirming that you want to transfer responsibility for the account to a new name.
