Worksheets for Key Stage 2
Worksheet 1 – Celldric’s House
Felt tip and coloured pencils at the ready – this worksheet consists of 2 creative projects:
Design a poster warning about the dangers of electricity and create a 'cut out and fold' booklet of ‘Stay Safe Rules’ for safe use of electricity in the home.
Worksheet 2 – Out and About
Colour in and construct paper models to demonstrate the journey electricity makes from the power station to our homes. Includes plans for making a power station, pylons, a sub station, a house and even an EDF Energy van.
This is a great project for a group of students to work on together – individuals can work on specific models and then can bring them together to connect the models up to make a miniature paper national grid!
Worksheet 3 – Night Night
Investigating circuits – create a robot with eyes that light up. This worksheet describes how to construct a basic circuit consisting 2 light bulbs, batteries and a switch and provides a template for a robot. An extension activity encourages students to design their own desk lamp or torch from junk and recycled materials.
Worksheets for Key Stage 3
Worksheet 1 – Introducing Dave
Create a leaflet providing information to the public about substations: what they are, why we need them and keeping safe around them.
Design a poster encouraging people to take seriously the need to reduce their consumption of electricity, including suggestions of ways to use energy efficiently.
Worksheet 2 – A Day Out
Imagine that it is 1831 and you are a newspaper journalist reporting on the work of Michael Faraday. Using the template provided write a front page article and create your own headline announcing his discoveries.
Worksheet 3 – Night Night
Make your own electronic game to ‘test your nerves’ based on your knowledge of simple circuits. The idea of the game is to get the hand loop across the large bendy wire without touching it.
